Water Quality Initiatives

In addition to collecting water quality data, Northern Water conducts nutrient loading, dissolved oxygen levels and water clarity studies. Technical committees and stakeholders define the studies’ objectives. The East Slope studies include the Horsetooth Water Quality Study and the Fern Lake Fire Water Quality Study. The West Slope studies look at water quality concerns in the three lakes: Grand Lake, Shadow Mountain Reservoir and Lake Granby. The C-BT Headwaters Partnership is pursuing efforts to restore wildfire burn areas and protect water supplies.
